Satopanth Tal Swargarohini is a holy lake at an altitude of 15100 ft. from the sea level in the Uttrakhand.
The Satopanth Tal Swargarohini trek considered to be of religious significance to the Hindus. It believed that the Pandava’s trekked through this route trying to reach the “SWARGA”. But unfortunately the pandava’s died on the way to swarga on different places on this trek.

Yudhistir, who made it to Swargarohini where a “Rath” came to take him to the heaven. It also believed in Hindu Mythology that lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva visit Satopanth Tal on Ekadashi day to take a dip in the lake. Also said, the water of the lake is so pure and clean that if a small piece of grass gets into water, the bird picks and throw it away. So it’s the purest lake over there.

We were in Badrinath collecting our Ration from the store, arranging all the stuff sleeping bags, carry mats, tents etc. We moves to the Mana Village Last village of Satopanth Tal Swargarohini trek(Last Village of India) in taxes because from that point we had to start our Satopanth Tal Swargarohini trek and we gonna meet our porters there only. So, started our trek towards the Laxmivan (Our First Campsite).

The trails so narrow that each one had to walk individually i.e. one after one. If we look other side of the trail there was River passing Alakananda. The water of that river was coming with such a force we hardly able to other sounds than water flowing. After walking 5 Km, we able to see Vasundhara Waterfall on the other side of the river Alakananda (where it said Draupadi left her soul).  The water of Vasundhara never falls straight to the ground, all thanks to the wind.

It looks so beautiful and mesmerising that one can sit for hours watching the waterfall. Suddenly our path became wider with lots of boulders and after crossing these some huge, some small boulders. We finally reached our first campsite Laxmivan, where we saw fields and then we went downside found lots of bhojpatra trees and there sceneric beauty, one can just dream of seeing it. After all this we had our dinner for night and slept in our tents.

Next morning we woke up and as I opened the zip of our tent seeing the clear weather and clear view of mountains, gave a wide smile to my face. We had our breakfast and kept packed lunch with us and moved to our further journey towards CHAKRATIRTHA. Now we had to walk through moraines and boulders, the path was wide this time. After walking 2-3 Km, we saw Alakapuri Glacier with Nar and Narayan Peaks in the background.

We crossed Sahastra Dhara and Neelkanth Peak Basecamp on our way. Specifically, there was no trails, we just follow our guide as he moved forward, we moved forward. At last we reached our next campsite CHAKRATIRTHA. At night, temperature decreased so rapidly and it was chilling night there.

After morning breakfast we headed towards our final destination Satopantha Tal. As we saw from campsite the first part of the Satopanth Tal Swargarohini trek route was full steep. While walking through that steep route, we had to rest for a while and then walk. Throughout the trekking journey, I was wondering how difficult for Pandavas that time and how come Bheema died before Yudhistir, even he was so strong that he had strength of somewhat 100 elephants (that’s what I have heard from my father).

After crossing that steep part we had to strictly follow to our guide because there were no trails only moraines and boulders. There were glaciers cover with moraines, one may easily lost his way and may get into the crevasses too. After a tough trek, we reached Satopanth Tal and there we had hot coffee which vanished all our tiredness. My fellow trekkers took a holy dip into the lake and I did some sort of Photography over there.

I took pictures of them taking dip into the lake. At noon we three members moved forward to take some clear pictures of Swargarohini, and if we could see Vishnukund and Suryakund there. We were walking over an edge almost and it was so dangerous.

After breakfast and packed lunch we headed back to Laxmivan. I was already missing those mountains and the seneric view over there and the joy I had there. While I was coming back to Laxmivan, and I was almost there, what I saw amazed my eyes. A rainbow over Vasundhara Waterfall and I saw a colourful waterfall for the first time ever in my life.
