Deoria tal Chandrashila trek is also known deoria tal-chopta-tunganath-chandrashila trek and is one of the most beautiful and best places to visit in Uttarakhand. The marvellous view from the chandrashila peak and the beauty of the rhododendrons forest in chopta chandrashila trek draw the thousands of trekkers every year. The distance from Delhi to chopta is approximately 430 km. The beauty of the deoria tal chandrashila trek makes this an ideal trek throughout the year.

From the chandrashila peak, you can see the Himalayan mountains like Nanda Devi, Panchuli, Bandarpunch, chaukhamba, Neelkanth on one side and the Garhwal valley on the opposite side. The special charm of towns along with the natural beauty all around will give you the feeling of the adventure trekking in Himalaya especially during the winter months.

 

Day 1: Drive from Haridwar to Sari then trek to deoria tal.

Distance: 220 kms + 3 kms trek.

Altitude: 6,554 ft. and 8,000 ft.

Time Taken: 7 hrs to drive 2 hrs to trek

The journey starts from Haridwar and is 220 km long and shall be covered in 7 hours. The way is full of zig zag ascends so it is advisable to carry motion sickness solutions along. The astounding confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda in Devaprayag. Driving along the river passes through the lush greenery and the scenic view that you would love to stare at. Follow the road as it takes you underneath the huge Himalayas and over their vast valleys.

On reaching the humble town of Sari, you can find a local market from where you can shop for the daily needs that you could have missed out while packing. You will reach Sari, base camp of deoria tal chandrashila trek. The total trekking distance from sari village to deoria tal is 3km. The trek starts from Sari to the Lake of the deoria tal which is famous for its crystal clear reflection of the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

The forest of maple and oak trees surround the entire trail from sari to Deoria tal. Your lenses will be hectic to capture the reflection of Mt. chaukhamba from the lake. Situated at an altitude of 2,438 meters above sea level Deoria Tal is a small yet beautiful lake. Hot dinner will be served after a lengthy day’s work. The night stays in tents.

 

Day 2: deoria tal to Chopta

Distance: 13 km

Altitude: 9,850 ft

Time Taken: 7 hrs

The deoria tal tungnath trek route takes you through the green meadows of Rohini Bugyal to the lofty village of Chopta. Rohini Bughyal is one of the most beautiful spots where one can catch the sight of the spectacular view of the sunset like no other. The beauty of astounding vegetation will surround you all throughout the way. See if you can spot our State Bird of Uttarakhand, The Monal.

The trek is relatively easy with well-defined trails and pathways; however, the length and the time may drain you out. Make sure you carry enough water and keep rehydrating yourself all throughout. During winters Chopta weather is freezing as the temperature tend to go below -1 degree as well.

Chopta is surrounded by the meadows and forest of oak trees with the splendid views of the Himalayan range including Nanda Devi, Trishul and Chaukhamba. Chopta chandrashila trek is a popular destination during the winter months due to the snowfall. We stay the night in tents or guesthouses.

 

Day 3: Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila peak to Chopta

Altitude: Tungnath: 12,070 ft, Chandrashila: 13, 550 ft.

Distance: 8 km

Time Taken: 6 hrs.

Brace for the final ascent. Feast on some wholesome breakfast and make sure you have hydrated yourself and have carried enough water for the journey. We are to begin the arduous ascend to Tungnath followed by a steep climb to Chandrashila where the magical sunrise welcomes you with the open arms.

On the trail of Chopta, tungnath trek trekkers enjoy the epic views of the snowy peaks and aura of this place keeps you spellbound. One gets to see snow clad peaks in full glory. All around you the Sentinel Himalayan mountains and peaks of Himalayas, with the likes of Nanda Devi and Chaukambha project their deep meditation. It is the perfect ambience to lose you and reflect upon the questions of life.

Trekking distance between Chopta to Tungnath is 4km. Tungnath temperature is between a minimum of -10 degrees and a maximum of 10 degrees. We stop for a quick visit at the Tungnath temple, the highest of the ‘Naths’ or Nath temples Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple at an elevation of 3,680 meters above sea level and just below the peak of chandrashila. The word ‘Tunganath’ means Lord of the peaks.

Tunganath to chandrashila

The path to chandrashila peak starts from Tungnath temple and the trekking distance between Tungnath temple to chandrashila peak is approximately 1.5km. You may see a few rare species of eagles. Chandrashila temperature during winters is 1 degree to 4 degrees and the place is blessed with snowfall.

Some of the prominent peaks trekkers see from the chandrashila peak like Nanda Devi, Panchuli, Bandarpunch, Neelkanth, chaukhamba on one side and the Garhwal valley on the opposite side. Apart from the mesmerizing views of the Himalayas, peaceful feeling and the natural beauty is an opportunity to enjoy the winter treks in the mountains of Uttarakhand. This is followed by a summit to the chandrashila Peak and back. Stay the night at Chopta in tents or in guesthouses.

 

Day 4: Chopta to Haridwar

Distance: 200 km

Time: 6-7 hrs

Congratulations! You have made it. We bid you farewell and all the best for your
future endeavours as we take you back to Haridwar in vehicles, from where you
can depart on further journeys or stay the night.

Had a amazing Experience with Himalayan climber on my first snow trek to Chopta tunganath chandrashila trek. It went all smoothly without any hassle .Also Food was very good i didn’t expected to be that good . I’ll surely choose Himalayan climber for my upcoming Treks . Our Guide Chandan Negi was awesome and very friendly man ,we enjoyed a lot.

My Chopta chandrashila tunganath winter trek with himalayan climber was amazing. The trek leader was jolly, helpful and resourcefull. The services given by them were at par. Food was good and sufficient inspite of harsh weather conditions.
If im going to trek again i will definitely go with this agency.
