Day 1- Dehradun to Joshimath
Distance: 220 km
Time taken: 8 hrs
Drive to Joshimath from Dehradun via Dev Prayag. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayan mountains and villages. Joshimath is a small village, located in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. Its cool atmosphere provides a perfect haven in the base camp of Pangarchulla peak trek.
Day 2 – Joshimath drive to dhak band and then trek to Gulling
Distance: 12 km drive, 6 km trek.
Time taken: 4 hours.
Joshimath, the base camp of Pangarchulla Peak Trek is also known as Jyotirmath is located in Chamoli District in the state of Uttarakhand. It is an altitude of 1,890 meters above sea level.
The word ‘Jyotirmath’ literally means the place of Jyotirlinga of Shiva. There are many temples and religious sites like Narshin Temple, Gari Bhawani Temple, Bhavishya Kedar Temple. Joshimath offers you the astounding view of mountains. The oldest tree in India ‘Kalpavriksha’ stood at Joshimath from the time of Adi Shankaracharya.
Joshimath is the gateway to several trekking trails like Valley of flower, Hemkund, Badrinath. Drive from Joshimath to dhak band takes around 40 minutes. The trek begins from Dhak Bend with ascends. The total trekking distance from Dhak Bend to Guling is 4km. The trail is going towards Tugashi village, where trekkers can see the wooden houses, their culture and the fields of wheat.
Guling is the beautiful campsite surrounded by the rhododendron, oak, pine trees. The view is simply a treat to your eyes on the spectacular view of the Hathi Ghora parvat from the first day of the trek.
Day 3 – Gulling to khulara.
Distance: 6 km
Time taken: 5 hours
Trek to khulara from Guling with ascends, the trail continues inside the forest of oak trees. With snow-capped Himalayan mountains, dense valleys and beautiful campsites with snow, Pangarchulla Peak Trek make you fall in love with it. After a few minutes walk, trekkers may see the astounding view of Dronagiri mountain (7,066meters) and Mt. Nanda Devi.

Day 4 – Khulara to Gailgarh
Distance: 3 km
Time taken: 3 hours
We start walking From Khulara to the base camp of pangarchulla peak towards Gailgarh. You will get to explore some of the most popular Himalayan mountains like Dronagiri, Mana, Kedarnath, Neelkanth and others. Overnight in tents.
Day 5 – Gailgarh to Pangarchulla peak and back to Khulara
Distance: 9 km
Time taken: 7-8 hours
The magic view of the sunrise is the best start on Basecamp Gailgarh. The trail is passed through the tall trees around. From the blissful view of the snow-capped mountains, this trail to pangarchulla peak will surely introduce you to every corner of this godly abode. From the pangarchulla peak, trekkers may capture the views of the beautiful Himalayan ranges. As pangarchulla summit is surrounded by the attractive peaks in all direction like Chaukhamba, Kamet, Hathi-Ghoda and other peaks. After that, back step towards Khulara. The descent to Khulara from here will be 3 hours.
Day 6 – Khulara to Joshimath via Dhak band
Distance: 12 km
Time taken: 7-8 hours
From Khulara to Joshimath, trekkers may spot the mountains again and the rhododendron trees around. The majestic view of the mountains like Barmal, Dronagiri, Nanda Devi, Mana and Birthali on the way. Blessed with the picturesque location of bugyals the trail then gradual descent to Auli.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO DO BEFORE GOING TO TREK?
Prepare your body-
- Running, Walk, Running
Running & Walking is the easiest and best for good health and trekking. Since the daunting of trekking & climbing requires long hours of public walk, ride, or drive, you must practice running or walking ablest one hour daily. Long walks during trekking make you tired those times and walk increase your fitness levels.
The benefits of running-
- Loosing of extra pounds weight
- Lower risk of heart problem
- Improve and balance blood circulation
- Increase stamina
- Walking with solder-load or weighted bag
Since trekking requires long time walks with a bag 5 kilos on your solder, a sudden weight on your shoulders. Put 5-6 kilos bag and try to walk 2-3 minutes and repeat this 10 times in 24 hours. If you have weight vest the try to run if you have not weighted vest the fill your bag with some books and wasted newspaper to weight.
- Climb stairs Up & Down
A mandatory aspect of trekking is ascending and descending trek. Ascend and descend walking is the most difficult tasks one faces during such trekking. For fitness practice, you regularly climb stairs. Regular climbing stair provides stronger muscles and better mental reflexes. Every day 5-10 minutes of stair climbing or 45 min walk or 20 min running reduces the risk of heart problem and increasing your stamina.
- Leg Exercises
Sports like football and hockey which involve running can be the best exercise. Cycling is also best exercise to boost up your muscles. You also follow leg exercises.
- Leg Curls

Repeat those exercises 2-3 time in a day to prepared for trekking in Himalayas.
- Mental and physiological fitness
